The Stelvio Pass, at 2800 metres above sea level, is one of the highest Alpine passes that is suitable for vehicles in Europe.
It is easy to reach by car from the Valtellina side, from the South Tyrol via Val Venosta, as well as from Switzerland from the Tubre Pass and Giogo di Santa Maria-Umbrail. You should always have snow chains with you. As it is in the mountains, there can be heavy snowfall in the Stelvio pass even at the height of summer!
